In the match against Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai captain Hardik set a record by taking 5 wickets alone. Hardik returned the pavilion to batsmen like Rishabh Pant, Nicholas Pooran and became the first captain in the 18-year history of IPL to take 5 wickets in a match. Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Ikana Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, April 4. The Lucknow batsmen put up a big score with a strong performance but for Mumbai, captain Hardik kept the front from one end and stood firm. Hardik took the wicket in his first over and ended the innings by taking 2 wickets in the last over. Hardik took wickets in every over of his spell and did this amazingly by conceding 36 runs in 4 overs.


Big kill in the first over mumbai needed wickets after Mitchell Marsh and Aidan Markram got off to a quick start. Vignesh Putur dismissed Marsh in the seventh over but new batsman Nicholas Pooran had already come to the crease and started attacking. In such a situation, Hardik himself took the responsibility of bringing the team back. Hardik, who came to bowl for the first time in the 9th over, dismissed Puran, who was in form, on the fifth ball. It was a big wicket for Mumbai as Puran was dismissed for just 12 runs. Hardik then achieved success in his very next over and this time returned the pavilion to Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant.


History made in the last over


Hardik Pandya did not stop here and in his third over also he achieved success for the team. Hardik made another big hunt to return the pavilion to the 18th over Eden Markram, who had accumulated a strong score. His amazing performance continued in the 20th over and ended the game of explosive batsman David Miller on the fourth ball. Just before being dismissed, Miller had hit sixes and fours on consecutive balls. The batsman scored 27 runs in just 14 balls. Then on the very next
ball, Hardik made history by completing his 5 kills by taking Akash Deep’s wicket. This was
Hardik’s first 5 wicket-haul in his T20 career and he also became the first captain to take 5 wickets
in IPL.
